An all-female Iranian music ensemble is slated to participate in Tehran's 23rd Fajr International Music Festival for the first time.
"This is the first time all-female bands are competing with each other in the International Fajr Festival," said the manager of the 'Orkideh' group Orkideh Hajivandi.
"We appreciate the opportunity and hope our performance will motivate future musicians," she added.
Hajivandi praised the Festival for including the pop category in this year's program, and expressed hope it would help promote pop music in the country.
Classical, Women's, Regional, Youth and Traditional Persian music will be among the categories in this year's Fajr Music Festival which will be held from December 21h-29th.
Musicians from the Netherlands, Azerbaijan, India and Turkey are slated to perform at the 23rd Fajr Festival which is affiliated to UNESCO.
