Working in improv inspires Chicago native of Palestinian descent

"What do you call a pile of ash in your home in Fallujah?" her alter ego asked an imaginary audience during rehearsal.

 

"Mom and Dad!"

 

Shelo, 24, is a native Chicagoan and new member of Second City's Outreach and Diversity troupe -- a training group to the mainstage Second City cast. Her own brand of dark humor capitalizes on Americans' discomfort about race and religion.
